Thrill the World 2012
Johnson City, TN
Funky Zombies all over the globe are planning for Thrill The World 2012! The event was founded in 2006 in Toronto, and has now spread to six continents!
Every October thousands of people around the world come together to honor the genius of Michael Jackson and raise funds for charity-oh! and to have fun, too!
This is our second year doing this. It was so much fun last year that we wanted to do it again and hopefully get more zombies!
A $1 minimum donation is required at the door, which will go to the Johnson City Downtown Clinic.
The Thrill Time is: Saturday, October 27, 2012, 2pm-5pm, and the official dance is at exactly 3:00 PM, EST. The dance will take place precisely at 3 pm so DON'T BE LATE!
At the ETSU DP Culp Center in Johnson City, TN
How It Works?
People in cities around the world dance to "Thriller" at exactly the same time. Preparation and counting down worldwide is part of the fun but the feeling of being connected to others and dancing together as one is a Thrill like no other!
This dance is for anyone 18 or older - all nationalities, faiths, creeds and abilities. Whether you are young or old, a professional dancer, or a complete beginner. You can adjust the routine to your own level - work up a major sweat or just take it easy. Dancing is a great way to achieve all round fitness and wellbeing, physically and mentally. Taking part is all about achieving your best - as Michael continues to inspire the world to do.
Each Zombie will receive a certificate of participation at the event!
Raise Funds for Charity
Michael Jackson was all about giving back so each local event is free to choose the charity of their choice and raise funds. We have chosen to raise money for the Johnson City Downtown Clinic.
Learning the Dance
We all use the same choreography based on the music video. We have detailed instructions developed by Thrill the World founder, Ines Markeljevic, who guides you through each step. You'll realize it's surprisingly easy!!
Can't Dance? Never fear! Past events have had participants ranging from age 6 to age 70 have learned the dance! No matter how old you are or how many left feet you may have, you can learn this very simple dance.
Click the link above to get some ideas about costumes, and even submit your own! We will also have face painting.
$20.00 for basic paling and scarring and bloody contusion work over face. 10-15 minutes
$30.00 to $50.00 for full ghoul work such us exposed teeth and gnarled faces and massive scarring and wounds. Amount of coverage, such as any exposed skin including arms and legs, will determine cost. 30-45 minutes
Click the image below to email Aline Backes for more information and to schedule a time to get your face done.
Madison J Photography will be there at our Photo Booth and if you buy a picture from her she will donate a portion to the clinic.

Thrill the World is an annual, worldwide, simultaneous dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" that attempts to set a world record while raising funds for charities. The event has been hosted in cities around the world since 2006.
In 2009, TTW set a new world record with the Record Holders Republic, with 22,571 people from 33 nations simultaneously performing Thriller.
This year Johnson City will host its FIRST EVER Thrill the World event! All proceeds will be given to the Johnson City Downtown Clinic located at 207 E. Myrtle Ave. in Johnson City.

Why should I attend? Top of Page
Where were you in the 1983 when "Thriller" made history by becoming the most influential pop music video of all-time? Want to see your friends and strangers dancing around like 80's era 'Jackson' zombies? Good!
We will have many exciting "Thrill-O-Ween" activities in store for all who attend.
How do I register? Top of Page
If you would like to be a dancer, Click Here. Registration as well as required waiver form must be submitted prior to any practice or official dance.
You can also register by attending a practice: forms will be available at all practices.
If you simply want to attend the event, we have pre-sale tickets to be available to persons 18 years old and up.
When and where are dance practices? Top of Page
If you register to dance we will add you to our Facebook group specifically for dancer correspondence or email list so that you can be informed when practices are scheduled and you can network with other zombies.
What should I wear to dance in? Top of Page
To practice you will want to wear comfortable clothes that you can work up a light sweat in as well as shoes that you can dance in comfortably.
On "Thrill-O-Ween" you should dress up in the most ghoulish costume imaginable that you can still move in and are still able to bust out your new dance moves.
Get creative! Here are some suggestions for who your zombie may have been:
Karate fighter who lost
Any kind of uniform
Shark Attack Victim
Golfer/Tennis, any sport
Man/Woman died on the Titanic (frozen)
Tourist whose plane crashed
Dancer from Philippine Prison

Do I have to pay for dance practices? Top of Page
There is no official fee for the practice, but we encourage zombies to get in touch with the mortal being they once were and offer up whatever they can afford to the charity.
We are also considering an incentive package offered only to dancing zombies who give a set minimum donation amount. Updates will be posted as they become available.
What type of volunteers do you need? Top of Page
We need people to help during the event with tasks such as setting up, helping people sign in, selling merchandise, cleaning up, but most importantly, we need people to volunteer their time and energy to learning the dance and getting the community involved.
Why do you need money from me? Top of Page
We want to raise as much money for the Johnson City Downtown Clinic as possible. The clinic is a non-profit organization that operates mainly on grant funding and donations. All proceeds from this event will go to this charity.
The clinic provides care to the uninsured, underinsured, TennCare enrollees, a growing Hispanic population and medically indigent individuals, and no one is ever turned away due to their inability to pay. In addition, many outreach contacts each year are provided to individuals on the street, in shelters and in farm worker camps. Therefore, the clinic and the citizens of our community are relying on your altruistic philanthropy!
